Days of Our Lives (III)

These are the days of our lives.

These are the days of;

Faux outrage

Love’s lost essence

Decadence of youth.

These are the days of our lives.

This is the generation of;

Lost values

No morals

Misplaced priorities

Weak minds/mentalities

The system turned on its head.

These are the days of our lives.

These are the days when we yearn

For the ‘good old days’;

When people were nicer to one another

When death didn’t stink on the streets

When people were more tolerant

When perversion was just a word

When terrorism didn’t exist.

But who are we kidding?

These days?

These days of our lives

Are the days we yearn for.

These days of our lives

Are what they have always been.

Death has always resided with us.

Decadence is a construct.

Morals are a construct.

People have never been tolerant.

We were always angry people.

We have always misunderstood love.

We always pretended to have values.

The system has always been horrible.

The existing system has always been replaced by a worse system.

Terrorism has always been here, albeit with a mask on every time.

Maybe the older ones were mentally tougher.

I’d give you that.

So what now?

What is the difference?

Technology has amplified our true nature.

Technology has given validation to our thoughts.

‘The times’ never actually changed.

People never changed.

But technology did.

Technology opened our eyes to who we are.

And we aren’t very nice people

Until the last days of our lives.

Throughout the month, I’d be posting contributions to a poem series titled – ‘These Are The Days of Our Lives‘.

    When people were more tolerant
    [Ah.. This is bubble talk; might have happened.]
    At this point –> “When perversion was just a word..” I began to question my life’s timeline so far; cos I absolutely missed that event.

    “When terrorism didn’t exist”
    And bullying was a joke
    Not that funny no more though
    These are the days of our lives.

    The Piece is Gorgeous.. 🙂
