I wrote this for part of a #Silence challenge on Instagram here

In this world of strife and vanity,

where we talk a lot without really saying anything.

We’d rather assume than ask – what’s the motive

Silence is my only respite.

Usually accompanied by trains of thought(s)

Diverging and converging

With starts, connections and stops

Silence is my only respite;

I’m just trying to get my words right.

This part is just a stop gap;

I’m just trying to set my mind right.

    Before now, this – “where we talk a lot without really saying anything..” – would have seemed romantic to me.. It’ll fit perfectly in one of them love songs..

    Haha. It can still be; no?

    Hearts in sync
    Beating not just for one another
    But for the one
    And through this maze that is life
    Moments of stumbling behind them both
    They lock eyes and they need not say anything
    For they know; Nothing shall separate them from the love of Him.

    Thanks for commenting Kerry:)

    ‘Silence is my only respite, usually accompanied by train of thoughts….’, you say and I wonder if absolute silence is attainable if our minds are alive and alert! Jean Jacques Rousseau surmises that ‘Absolute silence leads to sadness, its the image of death’! Needless to say that as long as we’ve got breath in us, though close-mouthed; our minds will continually ponder and process information!

    Linda Solegato affirms that ‘Sometimes, its harder to attain inner silence than outer silence. The dog stopped barking and the kids have gone to bed, but your mind has a lot to talk ’bout and it knows you can’t pretend you’re not at home’! 😂😂😂

    The circumstances we find ourselves, will determine to a very large extent when we oughta be discerning enough to speak up or forever ‘hold our peace’ in a silence that’s anything but silent! 😁
    Even with he who’s physically challenged and impaired in his auditory functions and ability to hear; his mind’s awake and so far off from complete or absolute silence! Twisted! 😆😆😆

    I love this topic of musing TM, its inexhaustible and soo much more can be said bout it! Great thinking as always and the lines you reeled out up there are simply fantastic! More brain power to ya and kudos! 👍😄

    Hahaha. Love that analogy. It knows I can’t pretend. Sometimes, it just gets Ugh 😆.

    Yes, indeed! Fascinating subject and window into the human condition and perhaps the Creators own.

    I recently read something that came to mind now, think it was CS Lewis who was pondered on the human condition of not just suffering, but also having to think about ones suffering as well.

    Thank you! You’re far too kind. Interesting prompts are always welcome 🙂
